Bottle Deposit
Why and How it Works?
We are often asked why we use glass bottles and why we charge a bottle deposit fee.
The answers are really quite simple. Glass bottles are better for the environment and
for your milk! Americans use 4 million plastic bottles every hour, yet only 1 out of 4
of these plastic bottles are recycled. This is because plastic recycling programs are
still in their infant stages. By using a glass bottle with deposit program with our
customers, we can take that extra step to make sure our planet is healthy for the next
generation. Why is glass better for your milk? Plastic from your standard milk container
leaches into the milk. This leaves a flavor to the milk that is unnatural and not healthy.
The chemicals used to produce these milk containers can also cause harm to your body if
ingested. We would rather not risk your health and we prefer that you enjoy the true
flavor of our milk versus the flavor of industrial plastic.
How it works.
When placing your orders you will be asked to pay a bottle deposit for our glass bottles.
Many of our customers have asked how this program works. Here is our simple directions to
making the system work for you.
The first time you order, fill out the order form that is inside your produce box. Add
all of your products together on the subtotal line of the form. Then count how many glass
bottles are on your order. For each glass bottle add $2.00 to the plus bottles line of
your order. Add the subtotal line and the bottles line and that is your grand total for
this order. If you will not be home to receive your dairy products an ice chest must be
placed by your front door, your dairy products will be placed into the ice chest. If an
ice chest is not by the front door your dairy items will not be left at the front door.
The next time you order, return the glass bottles by leaving them in your cooler/ice chest.
The total amount of bottle returns will be placed in your produce box, $2.00 for each bottle that you are returning.
This means that if you are returning two bottles, you will have
$4.00 cash in your produce box! If you are returning one bottle you will have $2.00 cash in your produce box.
If you break a bottle, you will need to pay a new bottle deposit as we DO NOT accept
broken bottles back.
Example first time order:
2 quarts whole milk = $5.00
2 quarts chocolate milk = $7.00
1 vanilla yami yogurt =$1.00
4 bottle deposits = $8.00
Total due = $21.00
